COVID-19 Update

To our valued patients,

During such challenging times, it is our most sincere hope that you and your family have been well.

We have been scheduling appointments since June and continue to take extensive precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our patients and the members of the Richmond Dental Clinic team.  We are fully compliant with all infection control procedures set by The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, as well as health regulations set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Toronto Public Health and Public Health Ontario.

Since reopening, please note the changes in our appointment procedures and the other precautionary measures we are taking to provide safe dental treatment – outlined below:

Before your appointment:

  • We pre-screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with anyone who is COVID-19-positive.

  • We’ll send the necessary documentation (e.g. new patient registration forms) electronically for completion.

  • If you have made any changes to your contact or insurance information or if you have any questions for the receptionists, please place them before you come for your appointment. We are limiting time in our reception area.

Upon your arrival at the office:

  • Upon entering the practice, we screen all patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with anyone who is COVID-19-positive.

  • Patients who show any signs or symptoms of illness, or exposure to COVID-19, are asked to reschedule appointments.

  • Only patients with scheduled appointments are allowed into the office, other than patients who require the care of a guardian or caregiver.

  • There is no physical contact with patients except for treatment.

In-office measures:

  • We supply hand sanitizer at our entrance and throughout the office.

  • We have removed those items that are difficult to disinfect, i.e. magazines, children’s toys, etc.

  • Throughout the day, we clean and sanitize common areas.

Your treatment and care:

  • We provide the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all clinical and administrative team members, including N95 (or equivalent) masks, face shields, gowns, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

  • We thoroughly sanitize treatment rooms before patients are seated. We’ve scheduled time between appointments to allow for thorough cleaning and disinfection of treatment rooms and equipment.

  • We have equipped all treatment rooms with doors or barriers and air purifiers.

  • Our team will strictly follow guidelines set by the CDC, Public Health and our dental governing bodies during all treatments.

Checking out after your appointment:

  • To protect patients and team members, plexiglass screens have been installed at reception.

  • We prefer contactless payment but wipe down payment terminals after each use.

  • We no longer accept cash and cheques.

For a smooth appointment, here are some helpful tips for you to consider

  • Please try not to arrive too early. You should expect to wait a little longer as we disinfect and prepare the treatment rooms after each patient.

  • Leave time on either side of your appointment in case of delays – don’t double-book yourself.

  • Minimize time spent in the operatory after your treatment has been completed; make your way to the front when you are finished.

  • Phone us or email us with any questions and concerns before your visit to ensure timeliness during your appointment. We are giving top priority to completing treatments and addressing more immediate dental concerns at the time of your appointment.

We have always prioritized the safety of our patients and staff.  These measures are instituted at the recommendation of our governing bodies at the RCDSO and the CDHO.

As measures change, we will do our best to keep you updated.

*If all anticipated treatment cannot be completed in the allotted time, we will complete your treatment during a separate visit – another appointment will be made.

Our top priority is your safety and that of our team members. Our entire staff is committed to ensuring your safety and comfort as you receive dental care from Richmond Dental.

We look forward to reconnecting with all of our patients and doing our best to provide for your dental needs.

If, after you review this information, you have any questions or concerns related to your care or our procedures, please contact us directly.

We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you again soon!
